iReady Help
Quick note: Our school expects every student to pass at least 1 iReady Reading and 1 iReady Math lesson per week. The iReady representative recommended that students who are receiving lessons below grade level to complete as much as 45 additional minutes per week. This is not required, but may boost your child's technology skills and develop past skills that benefit from review.
Planning iReady time: This really depends on your family's schedule and computer/iPad availability. Each iReady lesson should take roughly between 20-45 minutes to complete, and your child must pass 1 reading and 1 math per week. Try to carve out two 30 minute blocks per week where your child can work on his/her computer work in a quiet environment. If this is not possible, maybe try 4 shorter blocks of 15 minutes; just keep in mind the iReady lesson has a review and demo section at the beginning that may take the entire 15 minutes.
Problems logging in:
- Ask your child to make sure he/she is using Clever to log in (NOT iready.com). To use an iPad, you'll need to have downloaded the Clever app and iReady app.
- Have your child check he/she is typing the correct username (student ID number) and password (birthdate written out as numbers: MMDDYYYY). Students with birthdates with single-digit numbers often forget to input the 0. Students sometimes forget to write out the entire year.
- If you have tried both these solutions please email me. ✉️
Problems with lessons:
- ❌Lessons aren't appearing: if lessons are not appearing, your child did not complete their Diagnostic Test yet. This test is done in-school only. Your child's lessons with appear after they complete the test.
- 😙Lessons are too easy: lessons are assigned based on your child's Diagnostic Test. If lessons appear to be too easy, it's possible your child had an off-day when they took the test, rushed through, or may genuinely need a refresher with previous skills. Easier lessons may help boost your child's confidence at the beginning, as the lessons will progressively get more and more difficult.
- 😩Lessons are too difficult: lessons are assigned based on your child's Diagnostic Test. If lessons appear to be too difficult, your child displayed the potential to use skills he/she already knew to correctly answer advanced questions. Rigor and productive struggle are especially important for students with complex thinking skills. However, if lessons begin to get challenging to the point where it takes your child longer than 45 minutes to complete the lesson throughout the week, please let me know and I will adjust his/her lesson placement.
